The blaze broke out in Dutchess County in the town of Clinton at 10:40 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 13.
According to New York State Police Trooper AJ Hicks, troopers responded to a residential house fire with the East Clinton Fire Department on Clinton Hollow Road in the town of Clinton.
Troopers and first responders found the caller outside the residence, who stated two children and their mother were inside the house on the second floor, Hicks said.
Hicks said entry into the residence was not possible until mutual aid from Pleasant Valley Fire Department arrived.
When Pleasant Valley firefighters arrived, Shannon K. Hubbard, age 35, of Barnstable County in Brewster, Massachusetts, and her two children, a 3-year-old boy and a 1-year-old girl, were extricated from the residence.
All four victims were transported to local hospitals.
The victim who escaped, described as a 39-year-old man, and the 3-year-old boy were transported to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla with non-life-threatening injuries.
Hubbard and her one-year-old girl were pronounced dead at Vassar Medical Center and MidHudson Regional Hospital, both in Poughkeepsie.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
